What is it about?

This work provides the combination of x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and x-ray photoelectron-emission spectroscopy (XPS) with detailed calculations to obtain information on the first (rate-determining) step of the oxygen reduction reaction, the oxygen absorption on the catalysts iron- (FePc) and cobalt-phthalocyanine (CoPc). The results show that oxygen binds differently to FePc than to CoPc.
