What is it about?

This article introduces some of the tenets of corpus linguistics with views to the classroom exploitation of specific corpus-identified structures (lexical bundles) in EAP courses in Colombia. It is suggested that by combining to seemingly unrelated rationales, namely lexical bundles and Content and language integrated learning, learners of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) shall improve their performance levels.

Why is it important?

This is the first time a rationale for the pedagogical treatment of lexical bundles in Colombia has been advanced. Furthermore, the theoretical substrate provided by CLIL techniques bestows powerful leverage that confers great advantage of flexibility to alternative modes of EAP instruction.
