Why is it important?

It is important to show why manuscript discoveries have to be shared with scholars of the field before presenting and publishing it in a sensational manner.

Perspectives

How scholars were supposed to handle new manuscripts that surface on the market was made public in the resolution of the Research and Publications Committee of the Society for Biblical Literature in 1990. Those recommendations were not followed by the way the forged manuscript was handled.
