What is it about?

Right now, it's the instinct of many psychological researchers to create theoretical models of anything they want to understand. But that is not always the right strategy.

Why is it important?

An excess of models at a minimum wastes resources, primarily researcher time and energy. At worst, it can lead entire areas of study down the wrong path for years or even decades.
