What is it about?

The purpose of this book is to explain what AI can and cannot do, carefully delineating facts from beliefs or wishful thinking. It is purposefully thought-provoking, the reader does not need to agree with the author or accept his arguments; the idea is to show how an argument can be crafted about this topic.

Why is it important?

It is important to have a nuanced even if not too detailed or technical understanding of AI today. The readers are encouraged to make up their own minds about AI and draw their own conclusions rather than accepting opinions from people with vested interests or an agenda.

Perspectives

I wrote this tome as I wanted to challenge some common misconceptions about AI. I don't believe that AI should be characterized by understanding, thinking, and creativity, at least not in the sense we attribute these to humans.
