What is it about?

Simulations are used in decision making. Large systems need large-scale simulations. Large-scale simulations can be built out of many smaller simulations. A large healthcare simulation such as a hospital might be built out of smaller simulations that represent parts of the hospital. A large-scale factory simulation might consist of smaller models of the factory. Distributed simulation can be used to built and run these. This paper shows you how.

Why is it important?

There is no methodology for distributed simulation used in operational research/management science. These include simulations typically used in manufacturing, healthcare, etc.

Perspectives

Decision making through simulation is critical for excellent decisions. This paper introduces a highly useful technique that can be used for big simulations.
