What is it about?

This study is about a rare side effect of infusion medication called rituximab or Rituxan where sickness occurs similar to what happened in the past after infusing serum from horse to boost the immunity. We collected case reports of such side effect and studied the characteristics of the patients to predict who gets this sickness as well as tried to elucidate the best prevention and treatment method if this happens.

Why is it important?

This study adds a synthesized evidence about characteristics of patients with serum sickness-like side effect after using the infusion medication rituximab or Rituxan which has not been done before. It will guide clinicians to forecast who will have such rare side effect and help those patients by not using rituximab or using good preventive medications.
