Why is it important?

Our study highlights that despite diversification is a valuable strategy for small farms to increase and stabilize their income there are entrance barriers that limit their possibility to enter in these markets.

Perspectives

We considered diversification activities as a whole, however, a new research on determinants of farm diversification should distinguish between capital or labour intensive activity.
