Neonatal mortality and morbidity is alarmingly high in developing countries. This article highlights few important contributory factors and suggestions for improvement.

Why is it important?
It is hoped that the article would prove to be beneficial in improving the neonatal health outcomes in the developing countries.
Perspectives
I am a Consultant Paediatrician with work experience in both the developing and the developed countries. My clinical postings have given me a great opportunity to compare and critically analyse the health care systems and helped me to offer suggestions in order to improve the health care in the developing world.
