What is it about?

Often, implants can fail due to immune system reactions or bacterial infections. In this study, we were able to create coatings on magnesium implants that solve both of these problems. The coatings are similar to bone in composition and structure, and also contain an antibiotic that prevents infections.

Why is it important?

Implant-associated infections are a severe clinical burden that threatens the lives of patients. Our research is aimed at preventing this threat. The coatings we have created have the potential to greatly improve the quality of life of patients.

Perspectives

I believe that the research we have conducted will serve as an impetus for the further development of methods for creating innovative materials for implants.
