What is it about?

This work was aimed to investigate the factors influencing summer (June-September: JJAS) monsoon rainfall variability over Sudan using monthly datasets from 24 multiple sources from 1980 to 2018.

Why is it important?

This research represents the base for further work to examine the impact of SSTs teleconnections on summer rainfall in Sudan (starting, cessation and extremes), providing a reasonable basis for monitoring and predicting similar conditions in the future.

Perspectives

The outcomes are expected to give a major input to understand the rainfall variability and potential atmospheric drivers in SR. Findings would assist policy-makers and academicians to formulation the proactive strategic plans embedded in the principles of sustainable development, agriculture (food security), and water resource management.
