What is it about?
Buoyancy and orientation effects on 3D time-dependent thermal behavior in a square channel with symmetric and open cubic cavities simulating electronic chips has been studied experimentally. The walls of the cavities facing the openings are subject to a constant heat flux while the other bounding walls of the cavities and the channel are adiabatic.

Why is it important?
It provides potential applications in practial cases in energy consumption, air distribution, thermal comfort and mixed ventilation in buildings among other applications.
Perspectives
A phase-lag of π radians appears between both signals (negative correlation), indicating that the disturbances in the flow due to the hot buoyant fluid of the floor cavity that is periodically ejected towards the outside domain are felt by the choked flow within the roof cavity.
