What is it about?

This research investigates how entrepreneurial education activity influences entrepreneurial behaviour by unpacking how entrepreneurial education activity influences both entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurial behaviour and how behavioural entrepreneurial mindset mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial education activity and entrepreneurial intention. This furthers research into the behavioural subdimension of entrepreneurial mindset and how this impacts the relationship between entrepreneurial education activity and entrepreneurial intention. The research found that effective entrepreneurial education activity has a positive effect on entrepreneurial behaviour which was partly mediated by entrepreneurial intention, and that entrepreneurial education activity positively affects behavioural entrepreneurial mindset, which in turn mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial education activity and entrepreneurial intention.

Why is it important?

The research develops our understanding of how entrepreneurial education activity influences students’ entrepreneurial behaviour by highlighting behavioural entrepreneurial mindset as an impact indicator of entrepreneurship education. The research also furthers our understanding of the formation of students’ entrepreneurial behaviour by identifying how behavioural entrepreneurial mindset mediates the transition from entrepreneurial education activity to entrepreneurial behaviour through the development of entrepreneurial intention. This highlights behavioural entrepreneurial mindset as an effective endogenous driver of students’ entrepreneurial intention, addressing a lacuna in research by investigating entrepreneurial mindset from the behavioural perspective in entrepreneurship education research.
