COVID-19 is especially critical in patients with underlying comorbidities. However, the impact of comorbidities on COVID-19 mortality is controversial. We demonstrated that comorbidities predict disease severity and mortality in COVID-19 patients.

Perspectives

In the clinical decision-making of COVID-19 patients comorbidities should be considered in context, rather than only chronological age; this can be especially significant for the management of COVID-19 patients’ hospitalization.
