What is it about?

The objective of this paper is to predict the morphological evolution of the Lower Zambezi River in Africa. In particular, the aim is to study present and future effects of the presence of the Kariba and Cahora Bassa dams on the downstream morphology, integrating the few coarse and non-simultaneous data, somehow improving their overall quality.

Why is it important?

Applications of 1D simplified models at watershed scale to large rivers in undeveloped countries are necessary to give a general overview of the morphological evolution of such watercourses, as well as to produce additional data for more detailed models.
