What is it about?

Himalayan Musk Deer is an endangered species found in the Himalayan region. As the impact of climate change on this region is projected to be high, this study models how the habitat of this species could be distributed in the future under different IPCC's scenarios.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that majority of the Himalayan Musk Deer habitat will remain stable in the future as of current time period. However, there will be some shift in the form of either expansion or reduction. This study could be a guideline for resource conservationist and policy makers to formulate a future management plans and relevant policies in order to safeguard this endangered mammals.

Perspectives

This article is probably the first one to model habitat distribution of Himalayan Musk Deer for the Himalayan landscape. I hope this article will encourage other researchers to look into other aspects of this beautiful but endangered mammal.
