What is it about?

Morphing fear is a recently described problem that seems likely to be related to contamination types of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) People with morphing fears are worried about transforming in to an undesirable person in some form e.g. by becoming ugly, or poor or stupid. This paper reports a theory driven method of treatment which seems likely to be helpful.

Why is it important?

This is the first report of treatment in sufficient detail to begin to establish the characteristics of a specific therapy package for morphing fears.

Perspectives

As a clinician I have treated a number of young people who were suffering from morphing fears. They have also benefited from variants tot he cognitive model of OCD which is espoused here and in our randomized controlled trials.
