What is it about?

We measured soot or Black Carbon in cars, buses, and other vehicles driving around Flanders. The amount of air pollution in your car depends a.o. on the type of road and the speed.

Why is it important?

People are exposed at at least as much BC air pollution while driving or cycling (usually less than 1 hour per day) as they are in their own house. Most exposure assessements therefore underestimate exposure to BC.
