What is it about?

Sulfur containing molecules may play an important role in signalling We determined whether reactions that hve been invoked are thermodynamically possible. Furthermore, we draw attention to the fact that reactions between reaction partners present at very low concentrations will be extremely slow.

Why is it important?

Our work addresses the question whether purported signalling molecules can be formed and can react fast enough to play a role in signalling.

Perspectives

Additional reactions, postulated since publication of our paper, need to be examined from a thermodynamics and kinetics point of view.
