What is it about?

Cycling is the most sustainable urban transportation mode. This work aims to investigate the motivations, behaviours and perceptions of people who use the bicycle to go to work in a Brazilian city.

Why is it important?

Information about cycling in Brazil is still incomplete and there is little research on the factors that influence the attitudes and behavior of cyclists.

Perspectives

The continuation of this study is directed to understanding cyclists’ perceptions, motivations and behaviors in other cities of Rio de Janeiro State, incorporating issues regarding gender, age and the ownership of motorized vehicles. We hope this paper could gather researchers of other universities to analyse cycling as an important mode of transportation.
