What is it about?

The article studies critical factors, that is, those few underlying factors that help short or shortened agrifood supply chains to succeed in supplying food goods to consumers and generate profits to farmers. We studied shortened supply chains of the dairy industry in Brazil and in Italy. Specifically, Italy has a large tradition in short-food supply chains, the so-called filiera corta.

Why is it important?

Food safety, tradition, and heritage in consuming acts, organic production, and other factors are relevant to farmers as well as consumers of foods and beverages.


We hope to help scholars and mainly managers of agrifood supply chains to better understand their business and therefore improve their revenues and the quality of the food they provide to consumers.
