Why is it important?
The equilibrium water uptake is important for their mechanical behavior and good models will assist not only application of these gels but also in the development of them.
Perspectives
Stimuli-sensitive gels has recently became a focus of attention as these materials demonstrate potential for a wide range of “smart” applications including biomedical devices, drug delivery carriers, scaffolds for tissue engineering, filters and membranes for selective diffusion, sensors for on-line process monitoring and soft actuators
