What is it about?
This work shows how porous interlayers help join Cf/C to GH3536. It explores the microstructural reactions that take place and identifies ways to increase strength by almost 2 times (at room and elevated temperature conditions). The findings are especially applicable to the aerospace materials field.

Why is it important?
This work explores ways to enhance the output of currently used materials through microstructural control, rather than exploring completely new materials.
