What is it about?

The classical solvent extraction technique involves one organic phase and one aqueous phase. The organic reagents/solvents are carcinogenic and not recommended by green chemistry. Aqueous biphasic system (ABS) deals with two immiscible aqueous phases. In this paper ABS has been used to extract different Hg species.

Why is it important?

It is important because it deals with different Hg species

Perspectives

Green Chemistry is rewarding. Hg speciation is very difficult. Bt this paper demonstrates that green chemistry methods can easily distinguish different species of mercury.
