What is it about?
new nanoscale morphologies of silicon have been generated showing excellent performance as anodes in lithium ion batteries.

Why is it important?
Nanoscale silicon flakes show excellent capacity retention and capacity response that silicon nanorods. The approach can lead to large scale generation of silicon nano structures with excellent electrochemical response.
Perspectives
It was a pleasure writing this article as it was one of the first important contribution from one of my co-authors and it is my hope that this will lead to many more important contributions in this important topic. The work could be a stepping stone to the commercial realization of silicon as a new lithium ion anode.
