What is it about?

In vitro embryo production in goats has been limited to this day by strong variations in results. The use of eCG was evaluated to standardize the production of quality oocytes to be fertilized. There was a good response, but it is required to evaluate with a greater number of embryos.

Why is it important?

In our research, we were able to obtain young goat oocytes using 1000 IU eCG. A sufficient quantity of embryos produced in vitro was fertilized. However, it was found that there are differences between races, being the alpine goats the ones that best responded to the application of eCG.

Perspectives

Carrying out this investigation and being one of the first investigations in Mexico, was a great challenge, since we were conducting many previous trials to establish the method of oocyte collection, maturation and fertilization in young goats.
