Growth of gold nanoparticles in cyanobacteria Anabaena spec.

What is it about?

Gold nano-particles were grown by cyanobacteria Anabaena sp. and characterized via X-ray powder diffraction and electron microscopy.

Why is it important?

The formation of nanoparticles starts immediately at the heterocyst polysaccharide layer (HEP) but after several hours the dominating amount of nanoparticles is within the vegetative cells.
