Cerebrospinal fluid sphingolipid and sterol metabolite profiles of neurologically normal subjects

What is it about?

In recent years, glycolipids and sphingolipids have been explored for the understanding of metabolic impairment and their possible involvement in the process of neuroinflammation and neuroimmunological impairment. To understand these abnormalities, lipidomic analyses of blood and cerebrospinal fluid from neurological patients and the data should be compared with those from neurologically healthy subjects. At present, such data from controls have been unavailable in the literature. We elucidated the first human data on neurologically healthy subjects and therefore these data should be compared with respective lipidomics analyses of cerebrospinal fluid.
