What is it about?

In this work, we show a selective smoothing and filtering with a partial differential equation model can help segment objects in digital color images. By linking regions with similar color properties across scales we can capture various objects of sizes in the input images.

Why is it important?

Segmenting objects in color images can help identify them clearly and can aid further pattern recognition tasks such as tracking, classification.
