What is it about?

The article examines the core inputs and characteristics of an undergraduate course in community psychology and how these experiences influence the development of a social justice orientation among racially and ethnically diverse students.

Why is it important?

Improvements in undergraduate education must often center the learner and embed learning in ways that allow young people to feel a strong sense of connection to issues impacting their community and feel a high sense of efficacy toward using their education to generate solutions to those issues. Such pedagogical practices can improve student retention and promote interests in degrees where there is a larger underrepresentation among Black and Latnie students.
