What is it about?

One of the worse sequele of thoracoabdominal aortic repair is spinal cord ischemia. Many methods have been suggested to prevent this complication, including lumbar spinal drainage and selective hemodynamic control. This paper is focused on the add-on effects of epidural steroids.

Why is it important?

Spinal ischemia is a terrible complication of the thoracic aorta repair. This paper is suggesting a potentiality to prevent it.

Larger and better conducted studies on this topic should be conducted, in order to demonstrate the real efficacy of this add-on therapy proposed to prevent one of the worse complications of thoracic aorta repair: spinal cord ischemia.
