What is it about?

This study investigates how time pressure at work affects employees differently depending on the type of demands they face. In a work setting, demands can either be challenges that besides being stressful motivate employees or hindrances that stress them out. We studied 396 employees for a week, recording their daily experiences. The study shows that time pressure can either act as a challenge or a hindrance, depending on the type of demand being considered. This insight is important for understanding how time pressure impacts workers and for developing strategies in occupational health psychology to improve employee well-being and productivity.
