What is it about?

We explored different kinds of conservation actions, varying from site-specific management actions to economic incentives and public outreach, and evaluated to what extent they could contribute to changes in the society required to achieve sustainability transformation.

Why is it important?

Transformative change is necessary to halt the ever-accelerating biodiversity loss, and we need to understand how different conservation actions, policies and strategies contribute toward that goal. Our work provides a simple tool to help with such assessments.

I believe this article can offer to anyone involved with conservation a simple overview of what is required from conservation policies to be effective regarding transformative change. I also hope it will stimulate further work on the topic, as knowledge on practical solutions to advance transformative change is still scarce.
