What is it about?

Developing students' environmental literacy is at the core of many environmental education programs. This paper examines the relationship between metacognition and environmental litearcy, and specifically an educational program aimed to develop students' environmental litearcy through metacognitive support and peer-collaboration.

Why is it important?

Our results provide supporting evidence for the theoretical relationship between metacognition and environmental literacy. The results also presents the different effect of the metacognitive support used in the edcational program on the components of environmental literacy. These results have both theoretical and practical implications. Last, we developed an innovative Environmental Literacy INventory (ELIN) to assess environmental literacy.
