What is it about?

This paper proposes a methodology to design optimal output feedback control solutions using only a small number of sensors that leads to a performance equivalent to optimal full state feedback (Linear Quadratic Regulator) and that guarantees stability and performance even under variations in parameters and frequency bandwidth.

Why is it important?

The availability of only a small number of sensors for feedback tends to diminish the performance of active structural control or even lead to unstable systems. Our proposal makes it possible to maintain the good properties of state feedback optimal control but using only a small number of sensors.
