Why is it important?

The study is coming out on the 150th year since the founding of UC which is now one of the leading and progressive universities on sustainability. Also, it offers insights into the state of sustainability reporting among HEIs.

Perspectives

In this study, we identified six factors that influence the adoption of sustainability in HEIs. We recognized that assessment tools have failed to recognize reporting as an integral part of sustainability in HEIs. We went on developing a new tool for assessing SR in HEIs, building on the works of Lozano and Rahdari as well as dozens of tools developed in the past 30 years. Then, we focused on the University of California/UC (incl. its campuses) using a nested case-study approach.
