This paper shows student may enjoy doing science and other STEM subjects in school but they do not necessarily consider it as a career option

Why is it important?

It is important to understand several schemes which are run to inspire young people to take up these subjects. There is no evidence to suggest they have a significant impact on improving educational outcomes - such as attainment or continued participation

Perspectives

This paper was a part of the research project which evaluated the impact of STEM enrichment and enhancement activities. The elements of increasing and widening participation are summarised here
