What is it about?

Invasive ants tramp like Argentine ants have big impacts and are spreading. We have been looking at controlling them with trail pheromone, instead of insecticides. Our PhD student Fabian Westermann conducted field trials in vineyards against the ants, using pheromone dispensers to disrupt trailing.

Why is it important?

While an increase in pests can mean an increase in pesticides used to suppress them, there could be alternatives, such as pheromones.
