What is it about?

This study shows that consuming 50 grams of selenium enriched broccoli for 3 days increases blood selenium in healthy New Zealanders, whereas the same broccoli cultivar without selenium enrichment did not. We also show that immune cells isolated from our participants and given an immune challenge responded with higher immune signalling proteins after the selenium enriched broccoli, but not the standard unenriched broccoli. This may indicate increased immune health for our participants eating selenium enriched broccoli.
