What is it about?

Young mice on methionine restricted diet are strongly affected in their bone. Our research identified several miRNAs that change, and these miRNAs have been shown to target RUNX2.

Why is it important?

Methionine restriction improves metabolism and expands lifespan in many species, however in younger animals its benefits are not as clear.

Perspectives

This is an important study because it shows how a diet can alter miRNAs found in both bone and plasma. This provides a further layer of regulation of metabolism, growth and differentiation that has not been fully realized.
