Why is it important?
Models never come alone. A number of models are always possible, depending on the assumptions that are made and on the required accuracy. Evaluating the distance between two models is thus a general problem in engineering.
Perspectives
This paper has been written quite a long time ago. However, I have faced the same issue in a number of other domains. Each time, it appears that the idea of this paper remained relevant.
