What is it about?

Conventional chemical/inorganic support materials for the immobilization of cells can impair enzyme activity. Thus, the studied bionatural matrices, the structural fibrous network of Carica papaya wood, and the vegetable sponge of the gourd Luffa aegyptiaca, were tested for the immobilization of Aspergillus niger ATCC 1015 lipase by physical entrapment using a solid-substrate fermentation technique.
