What is it about?

Herein we discuss the (pre)clinical evidence that points to the involvement of circadian rhythm disruption (by light noise, shift work and jet-lag) in accelerating or even instigating the pathological changes in the brain.

Why is it important?

Chronotherapy and circadian rhythm alignment can significantly improve the outcome of therapeutics and slow down the progression of neurodegenerative diseases (AD, HD and PD) in predisposed patients.

Perspectives

Writing this article gave us an immense pleasure, reviewing published evidence for our hypothesis was an illuminating experience. I hope this article generates an interest in researchers to factor in circadian rhythms disruption while diagnosing or treating various neurodegenerative disorders.
