What is it about?
This study examined the factors related to the steps taken to clean-up and rehabilitate Melaka River and deduce by utilizing factor analysis the most critical success factors from the results obtained. A responsible river community is by far the most effective way to keep a river clean.

Why is it important?
Economic activities bring along contamination of rivers, sedimentation, coastal erosion, decrease of aquatic life, and also flooding. Several rivers are very polluted and require cleaning-up operations. For a river that runs through one of the world’s historic cities with the associated tourism elements, the good health of the river is of paramount importance.
