The study examines using the Police Officer Tacit Knowledge Inventory (a situational judgment test) to assess problem solving ability among novice Police Officers.

Why is it important?

Research into the training and preparing of police applicants has shown that problem solving is a skills that is important to the job. There have been calls to incorporate a measure that assesses problem solving skills into the police applicant screening process.
