What is it about?

Italian Benefit Corporations (società benefit) are a new form of business. These organizations are explicitly oriented to the creation of economic value and a positive social and environmental impact. We characterized their mission statements to understand better how they describe their purpose.

Why is it important?

It is critical to understand how benefit corporations declare their mission because it helps to clarify their purpose and how they contribute to the common good of society.

Perspectives

We provide original evidence about Italian benefit corporations, especially the identification of three groups of topics that were recurrent in their missions is important. In a sense, this article confirms and complements the findings of a previous article published in the International Journal of Corporate Social Responsibility in 2020.
