What is it about?

the aim of this work was to study the feasibility of generating films with organic substances as pectin using the electrospraying technique.

Why is it important?

Until today, there are not reports in the literature of films produced by electrospraying using water soluble biopolymers such as pectin, because of the special conditions required to atomize this type of solution.

The present work reports the production of films based on pectin by electrospraying, using water as solvent and non-toxic and biocompatibles additives, resulting in films with different physical characteristics as compared to those obtained by casting. Electrospraying device was builded by the researching group and we have made a device very complete having high voltage source, siringe pump, drum, linear actuator, hot air with temperature control and a acrilic cover.
