Most research about individuals in forensic psychiatric care focuses on patient deficits and criminal offending. In contrast, my research examines their adjustment, physical health, treatment needs, and progress. I look for ways to help identify individuals who can benefit from extra support, and tools to help clinicians do this. This lab follows a cohort of 638 men admitted to forensic psychiatry, through their documented experiences and events.

We found initial evidence that the forensic system performed as intended; i.e. to allow patients to move to lower custody to reflect changes in their recovery.
