What is it about?
This study is a systematic literature review. We examined the literature to identify the relationship between cognition and return to work (RTW) in patients with mild/moderate Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). We critically appraised the articles that met the inclusion criteria and identified that cognition is an important area that needs to be assessed when preparing TBI survivors for RTW. Further, we found that cognitive rehabilitation positively influences RTW among patients with mild/moderate TBI.

Why is it important?
Two percent of the US population are TBI survivors and the RTW rate has appeared to be very low in this patient group. Hence, it is critical to examine the factors that influence RTW among TBI survivors.
Perspectives
This is my first systematic review. I really enjoyed collaborating with my co-authors (who are also my friends) in this project. I was in awe when the literature failed to identify at least one specific RTW cognitive assessment focusing on TBI survivors.
