Why is it important?

Data from 29 registered clinical trials show that (i) bone marrow derived stem cells, including Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells, are the major source of stem cells used and that (ii) Autologous transplants are more frequent than allogenic transplantations.

Perspectives

We have discussed the various challenges in using "stem cell therapy" like the affordability and availability. Nurturing and developing R & D expertise, by strengthening the education system with research focus will open opportunities to bring cutting-edge therapies to the clinics in India.
